Animus dragons are special dragons that have power over physical objects. SeaWings, NightWings and SandWings have been confirmed to have animuses.
Abilities of an Animus
Animus dragons can do things such as levitating objects, making something grow in a specific way, cursing objects so that whoever touches them will be killed or poisoned, make objects look for someone or something, and make even make them talk. A few of the things that Blister mentions that animus can do is making a whole palace cave in and to make a spear look for Burn's heart and not stop until it kills her. Another animus dragon named Albatross built the SeaWing pavilion by making rocks grow in that way. Another animus, Orca made a statue kill all the heirs to the SeaWing throne. Animus dragons seem to run in the royal SeaWing family, and possibly a long time ago in the SandWing tribe, because the only known public Dreamvisitor was from the SandWing treasury even if the animus dragon who may or may not have been a SeaWing built three dreamvisitors, and they were thought to be destroyed or lost. Queen Scarlet used one of these to talk to Glory, and Starflight found one in the Night Kingdom.

Mentioned in the Books
In the First book it barely talked about Animus dragons,
but in the Lost Heir Tsunami's sister Anemone was an animus dragon, and so was her dead sister Orca who made a statue to kill any of her sisters so there will be no heir after Queen Coral. Albatross was also an animus dragon.
In the Hidden Kingdom Glory saw the tunnel and thought back of when she was a little dragonet and wanted to be an animus dragon.
In the Dark Secret Starflight found a Dream Visitor meaning that there might have been some NightWing Animus dragons,
In the Brightest Night some NightWing dragonets found an obsidian mirror made by possibly a NightWing animus dragon.
