Talons of Power is the ninth book in the Wings of Fire series. Tui T. Sutherland has confirmed that the main protagonist will be Prince Turtle.

According to Amazon, it will be released December 27, 2016.

Talons of Power follows Escaping Peril and precedes Book 10.

Tui T. Sutherland said on her blog that the ninth book will be the one to "rip out your heart and stomp on it."

It will pick up right after Escaping Peril's ending.

Trivia

  • This is currently the only book in the main series with an animus as the PoV.
  • The only other book with an animus's perspective is the Legends book Darkstalker (Legends), with Darkstalker and Prince Fathom.
  • On the cover, Turtle is missing his bracelet, containing the sky-fire rocks that prevent Moon from reading his mind. He will probably lose it in this book.
  • On the cover, Turtle's phosphoric lights are blue, but in the book they are described to give off a greenish light.
  • On the cover, Turtle's royal wing patterns, as well as Tsunami's on the cover of The Lost Heir, are not visible, perhaps because of the sunlight being brighter than the glow stripes.
  • Turtle is the first PoV to be related to the dragonets of destiny.
  • Turtle is the second SeaWing PoV.
  • Turtle is the third PoV who was born to a royal family.
  • Talons of Power is the first book in the second series that doesn't include the main protagonist's name in the title.
  • Talons of Power is the longest mainseries book with 336 pages (24 more pages than The Brightest Night , and 48 more pages than Escaping Peril).
  • Princess Auklet is likely to make another appearence in this book and may become a supporting character.
  • A SeaWing with a pinkish color is shown flying above Turtle, this could be Anemone but it is still unknown.
  • This is the first book to pick up right after the ending of the book that precedes it.
