A typical Sandwing. Art by Joy Ang.

SandWings are pale-colored, fire-breathing dragons that inhabit the deserts regions of Pyrrhia and in the Kingdom of Sand. If they're taken from the sand to early, they might lack a poisonus tail, and might have different colored scales and eyes. Originally they were ruled by Queen Oasis, but she was murdered by a scavenger who was after her large amount of treasure. After her death, the tribe  has split between thre sisters. Blaze has the support of most of the SandWing tribe along with alliance with the IceWings. Blister is allied with the SeaWings (and secretly with NightWings, unknown to any other tribes), and Burn, the oldest sandwing sister fighting for the throne, is allied with the SkyWings and MudWings (it is unknown if Burn is still in contact with the SkyWings after Scarlet went missing).

Description

SandWings are built for the desert. They have pale gold (or white) scales that blend in with the desert sand, forked black tongues, and beady black eyes like scorpions. They can breath fire, and give off warmth from their scales. The ends of their tails are armed with a venomous scorpion-like barb that they use when attacking. SandWings are long-necked and muscular. Sunny is a very unusual SandWing, as she lacks a tail barb and has brighter gold scales and green eyes, possibly as a result of being pulled from the sand too early or the Guardians not knowing much about SandWing egg care. It has been speculated that she is a hybrid dragon.

Abilities

The two main defenses of the SandWings are their ability to breath fire and their venomous tail, which they use to stab their enemies. They can survive extended periods without water and can bury themselves in the desert sand to camouflage themselves. SandWings can withstand serious heat, although actual fire still acually burns them.
