The Royal SeaWing Massacre occurred after Prince Albatross of the SeaWings built the SeaWing Pavilion over 2000 years before the events of the series. As an animus dragon, Albatross's powers eventually overtook his soul, and he was driven insane. Albatross managed to kill nine members of his own family, including the queen and his own daughter, leaving only Fathom, his grandson, and Pearl, the heir to the throne, before being stabbed through the heart by a spear.

In The Lost Heir, Anemone mentioned the Royal SeaWing Massacre when she explained the side effects of using animus magic. She didn't like Whirlpool making her use her powers because she didn't want to be like Albatross.

In Moon Rising, Moonwatcher is encouraged by Darkstalker to read a scroll about animus touched objects, which reveals some information about Prince Albatross and the Royal SeaWing Massacre, although the passage is mostly about Fathom.

In Darkstalker (Legends) the massacre happens in Chapter 6 and 8 .
