Template:Infobox Character Kelp was one of the four SeaWing patrols on duty while Clay had been chained to the floor of the Summer Palace. Tsunami eventually convinced them to help her so the dragonets of destiny wouldn't drown in the storm.
The other patrols were named Herring, Snail, and Flounder.
His brother had been one of the soldiers attacked by the SkyWings and the SandWings, returning with a scorched tail, a horrible gash on his neck, and blood foaming from his gills. When he was telling Queen Coral about the strange attacks, she did not show concern to the injured SeaWings nearly bleeding to death, worrying about her floor instead. Tsunami told Queen Coral that someone should look at their injuries, and so, Tsunami saved the solider by informing the queen.
