Heliconian

She is one of the ten flamesilk SilkWings kept by Queen Wasp and is described by Blue to be restless and fidgety, and seemingly interested in the world beyond the caverns where all of the flamesilks are kept. She is one of the few flamesilks who seem interested in escape, though she doesn't complain about the HiveWings.

Biography

The Lost Continent

Helonican is first mentioned in The Lost Continent in Danaid and Pierid's argument. Pierid comments on how it wasn't his fault Festoon overheard his secret conversation with Heliconian. Shortly after the argument, Danaid mentions Heliconian when she lists all the Flamesilks in The Flamesilk Factory, and says that she "ruins everything."

Later, Blue visits Heliconian and they talk. Heliconian only asks questions about the outside world to him, which makes Blue suspect that Heliconian is unhappy in the Flamesilk Factory and wishes to be free.

Heliconian is also one of the ten Flamesilks yelling and shouting at each other in the commotion Danaid causes. When Whitespeck yells at the others to shut up because he's trying to sleep, Heliconian snaps back at him that his screaming isn't helping the problem.

• The zebra heliconian, or zebra longwing_, is a species of butterfly that lives in the tropical or moist areas of North America.
