Cochineal

Template:Charbox Ex-Queen Cochineal was a female HiveWing who is Lady Scarab’s sister and likely Wasp's mother.

Appearance

Nothing definite is known, but it's possible that she had red scales like her namesake.

Biography

The Hive Queen

Lady Scarab mentions Cochineal in a conversation with Cricket, saying that she was told that the Book of Clearsight said that Cochineal must be the next Queen. Lady Scarab also says that her sister was a much better liar than she was, likely why she was chosen by their mother.

Personality

Little is known about Ex-Queen Cochineal but it can be assumed that she was very much like her successor (and most likely her daughter), Queen Wasp since Lady Scarab stated that Cochineal was an expert liar. However Cochineal wasn't as bad as Queen Wasp as Scarab stated to her niece that Cochineal wouldn't approve of her tyranny. She later told Cricket that while Cochineal wasn't the best queen, she was not as bad as Wasp. To use her exact words : " Not that my sister was any picnic as a ruler, but at least she wasn't a dictatorial zombie-making maniac."

• It's very likely (although not yet totally confirmed) that Cochineal is Queen Wasp's mother since Lady Scarab is Wasp's aunt and Lady Scarab has no other mentioned sisters.
• A cochineal is a small, grub-like bug.
