[[Chameleon]] is a male [[RainWings|RainWing]] who cannot change his scales like a normal RainWing (due to a snout deformity that kept him from sleeping very long) so he always stays a boring non-descript lime green hue. He still has the ability to shapeshift by using [[Darkstalker's Talisman]]. He managed this by describing the form he wanted to take on Darkstalker's scroll, then tearing the paper he had written on off the rest of the scroll and placing it in a little wearable pouch. He used these scraps to turn into other dragons from the different dragon tribes, such as [[Prince Hailstorm]] of the [[IceWings]] into [[Pyrite]]. In his [[SkyWings|SkyWing]] form, Soar, he is the father to [[Peril]] and her dead twin brother.

He worked for [[Ex-Queen Scarlet|Queen Scarlet]] until the conclusion of ''Escaping Peril'', and her orders usually consisted of transforming dragons into other bodies, examples being [[Prince Hailstorm/Prince Hailstorm|Hailstorm]] into [[Pyrite (No Tabs)|Pyrite]] or [[Princess Tourmaline|Tourmaline]] into [[Queen Ruby/Queen Ruby|Ruby]].  


He worked for [[Ex-Queen Scarlet]], because she bribed him, until her death. In one attempt to get Scarlet back on the throne, he gave Peril a necklace that took away her firescales but also made her loyal to Scarlet and forget completely about Clay. She eventually figured this out, and took it off. Chameleon also transformed [[Princess Tourmaline]] of the SkyWings into [[Ruby|Princess Ruby]], when Tourmaline seemed too dangerous. He also worked for [[Vulture]] in his MudWing form, [[Bog]], acting as a false witness in exchange for exorbitant amounts of treasure. After the destruction of Darkstalker's Talisman, he was unable to procure more forms, and his remaining forms were taken in DoD after he continued to work for dragons like Scarlet and Vulture.
Darkstalker's Scroll was taken away from Chameleon in the conclusion of ''Escaping Peril'', but he was still allotted his existing avatars. He was last seen snooping around the [[The Lost City of Night|Old Night Kingdom]] in ''[[Darkness of Dragons]]''.

He worked for Queen Scarlet until the conclusion of Escaping Peril, and her orders usually consisted of transforming dragons into other bodies, examples being Hailstorm into Pyrite or Tourmaline into Ruby.

Darkstalker's Scroll was taken away from Chameleon in the conclusion of Escaping Peril, but he was still allotted his existing avatars. He was last seen snooping around the Old Night Kingdom in Darkness of Dragons.
