Sora is a shy, brown, female MudWing dragonet with brown eyes. She is one of Clay's six siblings, as well as the fourth-hatched dragonet of Cattail along with being a student at the Jade Mountain Academy in the Gold Winglet. Sora has a tendency not to talk often, and she spoke even less after the death of her older sister, Crane, who was killed by Icicle in the battle between IceWings and MudWings shortly before Clay and Glory arrived at the Mud Kingdom. She was described to be mentally "fragile" by Moonwatcher and has a "calming ritual", where she "pours mud" over all her thoughts, which could be similar to Moon's rain method to clear her mind, just on Sora herself. She was responsible for the deaths of Bigtail and Carnelian, both of them were accidental while trying to kill Icicle for revenge. She was the one who, unknowingly, provided the final puzzle piece and helped Moon realise that Icicle was the one conspiring with Scarlet to kill the dragonets of destiny. As of the end of Moon Rising, she is on the run with Umber, one of her brothers. It is unknown where they are going or if they will return to the series in future books, though it is likely. She was also described by Umber to be "the smartest" of Clay's siblings. Sora tends to spend a lot of time at Jade Mountain Academy in the library, as Moon had seen her reading a scroll about Icewings.

Sora is an adult female MudWing who was introduced in The Dragonet Prophecy. She served as a soldier under Queen Moorhen during the War of SandWing Succession and formerly attended Jade Mountain Academy as a member of the Gold Winglet. Her current whereabouts are unknown, as she is a fugitive on the run with her brother Umber, after her failed attempts to murder Icicle.

Moon Rising
Description
Sora is put in a cave with Icicle, who was the dragon who killed her older sister, Crane, during the war of SandWing Succession. The Dragonets did this in an attempt to prevent Icicle from killing anyone within the first week of school. Ironically, this caused the opposite. As the pressure builds, Sora attempted to kill Icicle with a dragonflame cactus explosion in the history cave, which fails and kills Carnelian and Bigtail by accident, also injuring Tamarin. Later, Sora tried to kill Icicle with a stalactite that hung over the IceWing's favorite area of the prey center by scratching at it until it hung by a thread so that if Icicle's wing brushed it would fall. The plan failed, and when Moonwatcher found out Sora was guilty, she felt terrible, claiming that Icicle was the only target and that she hadn't known that Bigtail and Carnelian would be in the classroom. Overall, Moon wouldn't have suspected Sora because she was as nervous as her and the strange "calming sessions" in Sora's mind made it impossible to read her thoughts. Afterwards, she was forced to flee with her brother, Umber. She told Moon that Icicle had been mumbling about killing dragons in her sleep, not unbeknownst to Sora, it was really her communicating with Scarlet with the dreamvisitor. After the events of Moon Rising, her current whereabouts are unknown.

Sora is described as being hard to talk to and very introverted. When she was trying to kill Icicle she didn't want to feel guilty about it, so she buried her thoughts in imaginary mud, unknowingly blocking out Moon. Like Moon, she likes to read, though their tastes vary considerably.

She was described by Umber as being knowledgeable and smart.

She, like most other Mudwings, loved her siblings greatly. She even went as far to attempt to murder Icicle to avenge her sister, Crane, whom Icicle killed in battle.
Sora is incredibly loyal to her siblings, which is a very typical MudWing trait. She shows little regard for other dragons' lives during the events of Moon Rising, saying that they are just 'collateral damage,' and is willing to go to any lengths to avenge the death of her sister, Crane. However, Sora became increasingly insecure and fragile throughout the series, especially after she unintentionally killed innocent dragons upon avenging her lost sister. Sora is shown regretful and greatly affected, and the pressure eventually forced her to leave the school to avoid any more harm done to any other students. Before her escape with Umber, she showed remorse for her actions and found the guilt unbearable. Despite her guilt, she repeatedly tried to kill Icicle.

She seemed to have no regard for other dragon’s lives, as she was willing to risk other dragons being in the history cave when setting a dragonflame cactus bomb off, though she later showed remorse for her actions.

After the cave explosion, Sora became so anxious that she was tranquilized and left to recover in the infirmary. Later, Sora tried to kill Icicle with the stalactite that hung over the IceWing's favorite part of the prey center by scratching at its base until it was ready to fall when touched. Icicle survived, realized that it was Sora who was trying to kill her and set out for revenge. Moon figured this out from Icicle's thoughts and went to warn Sora.

Relationships
Icicle
Sora despised Icicle after she killed her sister, Crane, during the Great War. During her time at Jade Mountain Academy, Sora dedicated her time to conducting Icicle's murder, however both attempts failed. She was afraid that the princess would kill her one day, just as she did with Crane.

"Are we safe; miss Reed; I saw her; can't sleep; not safe anywhere; oh, Crane, I wish you were here."
Siblings
Sora loves and is very protective of her siblings, as shown when she tried to avenge Crane by killing Icicle. She is extremely loyal to Reed, their bigwings, and follows his orders. She also thought about her sibs while away from them during her brief time at Jade Mountain Academy.

— Sora to Moonwatcher about Icicle, Moon Rising

Sora is an adult female MudWing who was introduced in The Dragonet Prophecy. She served as a soldier under Queen Moorhen during the War of SandWing Succession and formerly attended Jade Mountain Academy as a member of the Gold Winglet. Her current whereabouts are unknown, as she is a fugitive on the run with her brother Umber, after her failed attempts to murder Icicle.

Description

Sora has brown scales[1] and eyes.[2] She looks similar to her brother, Marsh.[3]

Personality

Sora is described as being shy, difficult to talk to, and extremely introverted. Clay described her as the least offensive dragon at Jade Mountain Academy.[4] She is quiet.[5][3] According to Reed, she spoke more often prior to the untimely death of her sister Crane, an event that led to her deep hatred of Icicle. She was described to be mentally fragile by Darkstalker and uses a calming ritual in which she imagines pouring mud over all the bad thoughts in her mind. Sora spent a lot of her time at Jade Mountain Academy in the library, as Moon had seen her reading a scroll about IceWings. Similarly to Moon, she enjoys reading. She was described by Umber as being knowledgeable and smart.

The Jade Mountain Prophecy

Moon Rising

Upon the opening of Jade Mountain Academy, Sora was placed in the Gold Winglet, where she shared a room and classes with Icicle. The schools' founders did this in an attempt to prevent Icicle from killing anyone within the first week of school, as they thought Sora was not likely to make the IceWing angry, as she was quiet and nice. On the first night, Sora could not sleep because she was so worried that Icicle would kill her like she killed Crane. That night, she overheard Icicle talking about murder in her sleep, and she became convinced that she needed to kill Icicle. After a short time, Sora unsuccessfully attempted to kill Icicle with a dragonflame cactus explosion in the history cave, killing Carnelian and Bigtail in the process.

Sora later asked Kinkajou to leave her so she could apologize to Tamarin. Sora was found in the infirmary by Moonwatcher, Qibli, and Umber. Sora explained that Icicle had killed her sister, Crane. She agreed to run away with Umber, who swore to keep her safe, and thought that he would keep everyone else safe from her as well. Before she left, she told Moonwatcher that Icicle talked about killing someone in her sleep, which made her sure that Icicle was working with Scarlet to kill the dragonets.
Winter Turning
Sora was indirectly mentioned when Winter thought of Icicle and what happened to her.
Escaping Peril
Sora was mentioned when Queen Ruby demanded to know who caused the history cave explosion, to which Clay reluctantly told her that it was his sister, Sora, who had caused it.
Talons of Power

When Turtle thought of how he missed Umber, he indirectly mentioned Sora when he recalled that Umber fled Jade Mountain Academy with his sister.

Moon also mentioned Sora, saying that not all students were like her.
Darkness of Dragons
When entering the new history cave, Qibli is reminded of the explosion in the old history cave that Sora caused. Qibli noticed that the Gold Winglet had been 'equally decimated' by Sora's assassination attempts.

Relationships

Sora despised Icicle after she killed her sister, Crane, during the Great War. During her time at Jade Mountain Academy, Sora dedicated her time to conducting Icicle's murder, however both attempts failed. She was afraid that the princess would kill her one day, just as she did with Crane.

Siblings

Sora loves and is very protective of her siblings, as shown when she tried to avenge Crane by killing Icicle. She is extremely loyal to Reed, their bigwings, and follows his orders. She also thought about her sibs while away from them during her brief time at Jade Mountain Academy.
