'''Prince Jambu''' is a male [[RainWings|RainWing]] and one of the only two confirmed relatives of [[Queen Glory]], the other being [[Ex-Queen Grandeur]]. He was confirmed to be Queen Glory's half brother in ''[[The Hidden Kingdom]]'' making him, in a normal hierarchy, a prince. He is similar to all the other generation of RainWings, content with everything and with little to no knowledge of almost anything except for tree-gliding, dart-shooting, and being optimistic. He is the instructor of tree gliding for [[Dragonets|dragonets]] of the tribe and competed against [[Ex-Queen Exquisite|Exquisite]] for Glory's team when she challenged [[Ex-Queen Magnificent|Magnificent]] to be the new queen of the RainWings, which he lost due to her cheating.

Jambu's scales are often kept at a bright magenta or raspberry pink, implying that, personality-wise, he is very optimistic and cheerful. When he is disappointed or depressed, which is quite uncommon, blue-gray will appear on his scales in the shape of clouds and he'll make a "comically sad" face. He carries a pouch of sleeping darts around his neck. [[Glory]] once wondered if he had only two moods. He was also described with narrow shoulders, and probably has well muscled limbs, wings and tail, due to his forte in tree gliding, as shown in the tree race with [[Exquisite]] .

Jambu is usually cheerful and optimistic. He is horrified of the thought of no sunlight (as is normal with most RainWings), and very much enjoys calling his half-sister, [[Glory]] , "Your Majesty". He finds having her as a sister "cool". He can seem to be quite annoying at times, but he is very cheery. He cares much about Glory and appears to know some history about RainWings since he was able to tell the story of [[Chameleon]] . Jambu isn't the smartest dragon, as stated by Queen Glory, probably because it is stated in ''The Dark Secret ''that he could manage to mistake over two hundred NightWings for twenty.

Jambu, along with [[Liana]] and a few other RainWings, caught the [[The Dragonets of Destiny|Dragonets of Destiny]] entering the [[Rainforest Kingdom]] via sleeping darts. He brought them back to the RainWing village and spent time with [[Glory]] , to educate her about the RainWing culture. During this time, they compared venom and discovered, much to Jambu's delight, that they were relatives, and it was likely that Jambu was Glory's older half-brother.


When [[Mangrove]] ran away from the Rain Kingdom through the [[NightWing Portals|NightWing portal]] to the [[Kingdom of Sand]], in hopes of finding [[Orchid]], his mate, Jambu accompanied Glory and the other dragonets on their search, which brought them to the borders of the [[Ice Kingdom]] and [[Blaze's Fortress]]. Glory and Jambu disguised themselves as [[IceWings]] named Storm and Penguin (respectively) to gain entrance. Inside, Jambu spotted Mangrove, camouflaged in a corner. Jambu and Glory managed to convince [[Ex-Princess Blaze|Blaze]] to come outside so the dragonets could meet her. On their way out of the door, they saved two [[Scavengers|scavengers]] that were about to get eaten by Blaze and her followers.

Glory did not know she had a half-brother until she met him in the Rainforest Kingdom and did the venom test. At first, Glory was unimpressed, seeing him as ridiculous and silly like all the other RainWings. However, Jambu helped her get Blaze to meet the dragonets and nearly beat Exquisite in the tree-gliding competition, one of the five contests that decided who would become the queen of the RainWings. He was only stopped by a vine that wrapped around his neck and he was nearly strangled, possibly used by a collection of Exquisite's sloths. He appears to be one of her most trusted dragons now, even though he is rather incompetent. He also makes sure Glory takes her daily sun time, noting that it makes her less grumpy and more recharged. Jambu is an adult male RainWing prince who was introduced in The Hidden Kingdom. He currently works as a tree gliding instructor for the dragonets in the Rainforest Kingdom and is the half-brother of Queen Glory. He currently resides in the RainWing village and is in a relationship with Pineapple.

Description

Jambu generally keeps his scales a vibrant[1] raspberry-pink color.[2]

Personality

Jambu is adventurous,[3] respectful,[4] pitying,[5] positive, and sympathetic.[6] Upon first meeting him, Glory considered him to be stupid[5] and the dizziest, most useless dragon she had ever met.[7] He seemed as if he did not care at all about her abduction,[8] shrugging at the thought of bothering to count the RainWing village's eggs.[9] He is lazy[10] and is horrified by the idea of using his venom on other dragons.[11]

Biography

The Dragonet Prophecy

The Hidden Kingdom

Jambu, along with Liana and a few other RainWings, caught the dragonets of destiny when they first entered the Rainforest Kingdom. They knocked out Clay, Sunny, and Tsunami with sleeping darts. He brought them back to the RainWing village and spent time with Glory, educating her about the RainWing culture. During this time, they compared their venom and discovered that they were relatives, likely half-siblings. He revealed to Glory that the RainWings have no fixed parents system and every dragonet was raised collectively by the village. After Mangrove ran away from the Rainforest Kingdom through one of the NightWing tunnels in hopes of finding Orchid, his partner, Jambu accompanied Glory and the other dragonets on their search to find him, bringing them to the borders of the Ice Kingdom and Blaze's fortress. Glory and Jambu disguised themselves as IceWings to gain entrance, and once inside, they spotted Mangrove camouflaged in a corner. The two managed to convince Blaze to come outside to meet the dragonets.

Later, when Glory challenged the RainWing queens for the throne, Jambu competed in the treetop race against Exquisite. He lost after some of Exquisite's sloths tossed vines in his way, nearly choking him. However, Glory won the overall challenge due to Grandeur's forfeit against Kinkajou, when she found that she and Glory were related.
The Dark Secret
Jambu became one of Glory's most trustworthy RainWings after her coronation. He participated in Glory's mission to rescue the imprisoned RainWings in the Night Kingdom and was one of the first dragons to go through the portal. Starflight described him as either "brave" or not knowing what he was getting himself into." He was also described as being one of the best shots with a blowgun.
The Brightest Night
When Fierceteeth, Strongwings, and Preyhunter used the Obsidian Mirror to spy on Glory, she was shown instructing Jambu and Grandeur to count all the NightWings in the rainforest. Jambu was uneasy over this and was revealed only to be able to count to twenty. Later, Glory sent Jambu and Mangrove back to the Ice Kingdom to convince Blaze to attend the peace summit in Burn's stronghold. However, the mission failed because Queen Glacier refused to let Blaze leave the kingdom, unwilling to risk all the land she had promised her tribe.

The Jade Mountain Prophecy

Winter Turning
He was seen, smarting off to his half-sister, Queen Glory, while he was watching over the unconscious Icicle. He and the healers told Glory the story of the RainWing that could not change his scale color; this RainWing was later revealed to be Chameleon.

The Lost Continent Prophecy

The Flames of Hope

Jambu was seen in Pineapple's memory. In that vision, Jambu was shown sleeping with his partner, Pineapple. Glory suddenly appeared to wake Jambu up as suntime has ended already. Jambu commented that he was tired from watching Peacemaker and his friends play. Glory asked for Jambu to come with her to Sanctuary as dragons from Pantala have arrived there, but he refused. Pineapple offered to go in his place, which Jambu happily agreed to as he went back to sleep in his hammock.

At the end of The Flames of Hope, Luna mentioned that Jambu and Pineapple promised to visit Pantala soon.

Relationships

Glory

Glory did not know she had a half-brother until she met him in the Rainforest Kingdom and did the venom test. At first, Glory was unimpressed, seeing him as ridiculous and silly like all the other RainWings. However, Jambu helped her get Blaze to meet the dragonets and nearly beat Exquisite in the tree-gliding competition, one of the five contests that decided who would become the queen of the RainWings. He was only stopped by a vine that wrapped around his neck and he was nearly strangled, possibly used by a collection of Exquisite's sloths. He appears to be one of her most trusted dragons now, even though he is rather incompetent. He also makes sure Glory takes her daily sun time, noting that it makes her less grumpy and more recharged. Glory can count on him, and he was her first choice as the RainWing representative for a queen's gathering.[12]

Peacemaker

Jambu often looks over Peacemaker and his friends,[13] but he is quite exhausted by Peacemaker's energy.[12]

Pineapple

Pineapple is Jambu's partner. Pineapple appears rested and happy while they are together,[14] and Jambu calls their time together "Pineappletime." Pineapple laughed with him and reassured Jambu that he would always be there for him, and they joke with one another quite often. He grins at Jambu[13] and is physically affectionate towards him.[12] He was quick to assure Jambu that he does lots of helpful things, and was willing to take Jambu's place on the stealth team so that he could rest. They love one another[12][15] and often spend lots of time together cuddling, eating chocolate, and making up songs about pandas.[16]
