[[Greatness]] was supposed to use it to spy on the [[RainWings]], but did not, as she didn't trust items made by animus dragons.

| It can by activated by saying the name of the dragon that you want to see, then breathing smoke onto in. The dragons appear as colored tendrals of smoke, making vision unclear, but voices and background noises can be heard perfectly clearly.

| In the preview of [[The Brightest Night]], [[Strongwings]] wields it while [[Sunny]] is kidnapped. During her capturing, [[Preyhunter]] pulls it out and Sunny notices that the raindrops avoided falling on it. He states that it has not worked well lately, and that [[Stonemover]] may have done something to it before he disappeared.

| The Obsidian Mirror is later used by Sunny to check on her friends, but she buries it in a sand dune before entering the [[Scorpion Den]], because she fears it might fall into the wrong hands. It is later lost because she was unable to locate the sand dune she buried it in.
