The MudWing Succession Crisis was an event where the MudWing tribe was left with no royal heirs to inherit the throne after the death and disappearance of both of the royal family's heirs, Queen Egret and Princess Bayou. The event took place three generations prior to Queen Moorhen.

Description

After becoming queen of the MudWings, Queen Egret only had one heir, her sister, to take her place if anything were to happen to her. Although she ruled peacefully for a time, Egret grew paranoid and reckless after her brother Copperhead ran away, which lead to her death. Bayou was destined to inherit the throne but broke under the pressure and ran away from the Mud Kingdom. With no heirs, the kingdom dissolved into madness for a month. The crisis was eventually solved after Olive, a MudWing construction worker near the MudWing palace, offered her eggs to Prince Sawgrass to hatch an heir while she ruled as queen regent in the meantime.

Timeline

  • Queen Anhinga had five dragonets, two daughters and three sons.[1]
  • Both of Anhinga's brothers died in skirmishes with the SkyWings. Neither of them had dragonets, leaving Egret and Bayou as the only heirs to the throne.[2]
  • The bigwings of the dragonets, Egret, challenged Anhinga for the throne when Anhinga was elderly and weaker.[3]
  • Egret inherited the throne and refused to have dragonets.[3]
  • Copperhead fell in love with a RainWing and ran away to the Rainforest Kingdom to be with him. This caused Egret to become paranoid.[4]
  • Egret would intentionally scare her siblings by being reckless which eventually led to her death.[5]
  • Bayou, devastated by her sister's death, vanished during the night, leaving the kingdom with no heirs.[5]
  • Sawgrass and Possum, the last remaining royals, were left to deal with the kingdom for a month with no queen.[5]
  • Olive sought out Sawgrass and gave him her eggs so that another queen could hatch. In the meantime, Olive stood in as queen.[6]
  • Coypu hatched and eventually became queen of the MudWings, starting a new royal family.[7]
