Location articles are about specific locations in the series. (Example: Rainforest Kingdom.)

Article Structure

Here is the outline of how a location article should be structured:

• Introduction
• Description
• Notable features
  • Notable feature (add as many as necessary)
• Flora/Fauna
• History
• Trivia
• Gallery
• References
• Navboxes (if applicable)

Below you can find more detailed information on what to keep in mind while editing each section.

Introduction

• The Introduction paragraph should include essential information about the location. This includes the climate and the location on its corresponding continent.
  • Example: The lost city of night is a partially-submerged city on the Talon Peninsula of Pyrrhia. It was previously home to the NightWing tribe. It is surrounded by a deciduous forest and protected by Darkstalker's Teeth, a mountain range.

Description

• Describe the location in as much detail as possible. This includes the general climate, terrain, and appearance.
  • This can also include biased information, such as an IceWing finding a place "too hot", even when other dragons find it tolerable or enjoyable. Preface this information with "To an IceWing ..."

Notable features

Notable feature

• Any major features within the location may get their own sections (Example: SapWing village and PoisonWing village should each get a subsection here).
• If the feature has a page of its own (Example: SapWing village) link it in the heading for its subsection.

History

• History of the location, including the founder/s, origins of notable locations, and any historical events that occurred there should be included into this section.

Flora/Fauna

• If the location has named or notable plants or animals, list them here.
  • Extensive lists may require dropdowns.

Trivia

• This section is used for information that does not fit elsewhere on the page.
  • In particular, this section should be used for statements made by Tui at online or in-person events.
  • Statements made on an official Scholastic media (websites, social media, etc.) are also acceptable.

Gallery

• The Gallery section should contain the <gallery> </gallery> syntax around all image files.
• The Gallery section should only contain canonical imagery. This may include cover illustrations, graphic novel art, Home Base assets, and any promotion-specific material released by Scholastic.
• Fanart is not allowed in the Gallery section.

References

• You can add a citation of a book page (in source mode) by using the Ref template (click the link for an explanation on how to use it). Citations of sources outside the books can be done using the <ref></ref> syntax (in source mode) or by selecting the Insert tab and clicking Reference in the drop box (in Visual Editor mode).
  • Please do not use <ref></ref> for book citations, and replace them with the proper format when necessary.
• If a citation is used anywhere on the article (via the Ref template or the <ref></ref> syntax), this section needs to be added to the page so the citation displays properly. In most cases, this is done by adding {{References}} to the section. Citations from external sources such as events belong in {{EventReferences}}.
• If there are no citations on an article, this section can be omitted.

Navboxes

• Navboxes are a quick way to navigate around information about a specific tribe. They include article links for known dragons, locations, and societal information. Navboxes should only be added to pages they link to, including the tribe’s members, events, and relevant locations.
• You can add a navbox by using {{Tribe Navbox}} (Example: {{HiveWing Navbox}}).

Categories

Categories are an easy way to find things on our wiki. You can find all the existing categories at the Category Guide or the Category Tree.
All locations should be placed into the following categories:

• Locations
• Pyrrhian locations or Pantalan locations, based on which continent the location is on.
• Book location categories (eg. TDP locations, WT locations, etc.).

Categories with specific conditions:

• Location descriptor categories should be added where applicable. These categories are:
  • Bodies of water for rivers, lakes, and other water sources.
  • Fortresses and castles for palaces, strongholds, fortresses, etc.
  • Hives for Pantalan Hives.
  • Kingdoms for Pyrrhian kingdoms.
  • Human settlements for human-inhabited settlements.
  • Dragon settlements for dragon-inhabited settlements.
• A location associated with a specific tribe or tribes belongs in the respective tribe history categories (eg. MudWing history, HiveWing history, etc.).
  • A location associated with all of the Pyrrhian tribes can be added to Pyrrhian history.
  • A location associated with all of the Pantalan tribes can be added to Pantalan history.
  • Locations associated with humans belong in Human history.
