This is a list of games played by dragons and humans throughout the series, generally for fun.
Known Games
- Scales-and-squares is a game played in the time of Darkstalker. The game is played on a board[1] with colored tokens consisting of either scales or squares. Scale tokens are green[2] and blue,[3] while the squares are black[2] and white.[3] Scales can hop over squares around a board to capture them.[3] This game was played at a festival by Fathom, Darkstalker, and Whiteout. It is possible only NightWings played it, as Fathom seemed to not know the rules.[3] This is similar to real-life checkers.
- Dragons and Vipers is a game mentioned in Darkness of Dragons. It is known to be played by SandWing dragonets.[4]
- Scroll Tower is a stacking board game mentioned in Darkstalker. The game consists of different levels of stacking difficulty, in which dragons have to stack small, marble, scroll-shaped "bricks" in increasingly difficult ways.[1] Whiteout was said to be amazing at it.[5]
- Hide-and-seek is a RainWing game that young dragonets play. According to Jambu, for the RainWings, hide-and-seek is used to practice their camouflage skills. Although it is a game, hide-and-seek was one of the challenges used for the RainWing royal challenge.
- The Darkstalker is a game played by NightWing dragonets around the time of The Dragonet Prophecy. You play by hiding as Darkstalker for a long time, then releasing yourself from the spot you hid and getting the other players.[6] It is similar to hide-and-seek in the real world.
- Tag is a game that SeaWing dragonets play. It is shown to be played in Winter Turning by Anemone and Barracuda.[7]
- Strength competitions are competitions mentioned to occur in Valor that are played by human competitors. Brook is said to win every one.[8]
- Chess was mentioned to exist in The Lost Heir. Tsunami reflected on how Webs explained that animus dragons could enchant chess pieces to play themselves.[9]
